Oklahoma State Cowboys Tickets – BCS Favorites?

by on December 4, 2011 updated December 8, 2011

The Oklahoma State Cowboys have managed to win the Big 12 Championship, topping the Oklahoma Sooners 44-10. In doing so, many feel that they’ve made a good enough case to be considered frontrunners for a match against LSU in the BCS Championship Game.  The Cowboys have clearly been the class of the conference all season and effectively erased memories of a long losing streak to the Sooners while proving that when it comes to defense, you can give up some substantial yardage as long as you’re also taking the ball away.

In this case the Cowboys managed five turnovers against the Oklahoma Sooners, but will that be enough in the minds of the BCS voters. My contention is that it should be becaus ethe BCS voters are just hoping to be swayed in any direction other than a rematch of the LSU-Alabama game that would make an All-SEC BCS Championship and also reduce interest in the game to two southern states who really don’t need the hype to increase the intensity of their rivalry.

Nope, the BCS Championship Game should pit two quality teams from different conferences. I can live with the conjecture that the Alabama Crimson Tide are a great football team. I can even concede the possibility that they may be as good as or even better than LSU and just had a bad night in their 9-6 loss to the Tigers. BUt they lost and that’s the way it goes. Now the Oklahoma State Cowboys have their chance. Granted that they’ve also experienced a loss. But from the point of view of the BCS, they offer a much more attractive package for college football fans in a Big 12-SEC contest. It spreads things around and in most years you won’t find the bottleneck of 1-loss team you see in college football this season. The Oklahoma State Cowboys deserve to bring their high octane offense into the Mercedes Benz Superdome to face one of the best college football defenses, and teams, in years. Let it rip.
